Grade 3 Language Arts Report Card Outcomes


Comprehend and Respond (Reading, Viewing, Listening)


CR 3.1 I can understand and respond to texts that address community, identity and social
responsibility.

CR 3.2 I can connect to the messages in a variety of visual and multimedia texts (e.g. posters, charts,
diagrams, videos,…) and explain my reaction.

CR 3.3 I can purposefully listen to identify main ideas and compare information.


CR 3.4 I can independently read grade level texts.


CR 3.4 I can use grade-appropriate reading strategies (e.g. make connections, ask questions, make
inferences, discuss author’s craft,…) to help me understand what I read.


CR 3.4 I can use a variety of text structures and elements (e.g. plot, problem, solution, glossary, bold
face words,…) to support my understanding.


CR 3.4 I can use grade appropriate word strategies to read (e.g. context, prefixes, suffixes, word
families, …).


Compose and Create (Writing, Representing, Speaking)

a clear purpose.


CC 3.3 I can speak clearly and with expression, for a variety of purposes and audiences in formal
and informal settings.


CC 3.4 I can write a variety of texts (e.g. narratives, poems, letters, reports, procedures, scripts,…)
that are clear and organized with interesting details.


CC 3.4 I can use grade-appropriate conventions (e.g. punctuation, capitals, sentence variety,
paragraphs,…) to communicate my meaning when writing.


CC 3.4 I can choose grade-appropriate words (e.g. adjectives, contractions, compound words) and
spelling strategies (e.g. high-frequency words, irregular plurals, apostrophes,…) to clarify my
meaning when writing.
